Stockley Park is named after the old village of Stockley and is believed to be a portmanteau of the village of Cowley Stock in West Middlesex, named after a brick-making village. The village of Stockley was formed in 1912 when the village of Starveall was renamed Starvhall. Starveall is located in the old neighborhood of Hillingdon, south of the Grand Junction Canal. By the mid-19th century a significant brickyard was built west of Starveall Farm and a tributary called Starveall Dock was cut from the Grand Junction Canal to serve the brickworks. In 1879, the minority Samuel Pocock was producing 15-20 million bricks a year here. In 1884, Pocock transferred his interests to Clement Burgess Broad and George Harris. By 1911, the hamlet of Starveall had grown, but its descriptive name was of concern to its inhabitants.
