Starveall, a hamlet in Yiewsley Urban District, was renamed by Broad & Co without sanction, causing disquiet at a Council meeting in 1912. The council agreed with the name change, as nobody had been starved there. Starveall Road, Farm, School, Church Mission hall, Football Club, Dock, and Brickworks were all renamed Stockley. Today, Starveall is only referenced on the canal network managed by the Canal & River Trust. During World War I, the Royal Naval Air Service had barracks at Stockley Depot, with approximately 70 men serving. A war memorial tablet bearing their names was unveiled in 1921. Stockley continued to be a center of brick production until the brickworks closed down in 1935. The hamlet of Stockley diminished, and the area was absorbed into West Drayton. Today, Stockley Close Industrial estate lies where the hamlet once stood, with Stockley Farm buildings remaining and a small local park, Stockley Recreation Ground.
