Henry VIII annexed Feltham to the manor of Hampton Court, and it was held of that lordship as late as 1631. There is evidence that the Lords of Kempton held courts there between 1676 and 1700. Manorial rights most likely died out soon after.Francis Lord Cottington acquired a grant of these properties in 1631 through his trustees, Sir Henry Browne and John Cliffe, under the title of 'all lands, tenements, and hereditaments known as the manor of Feltham,' along with certain specified tenements. In 1634, a large fire destroyed Lord Cottington's manorhouse, thirteen dwelling-houses, and sixteen barns, resulting in a loss of over £5,000. Lord Cottington supported the King during the Civil War and was among those exempted from indemnity or composition by Parliament.
