The current London Gatwick Airport dates back to 1931. At the time it was owned by National Air services corporation. Following the expansion works, was the first terminal, taxi and aprons were put into service in 1936. Passengers going to the airport by taxi or train can enter the airport steel via underpasses and walkways.
In 1953 the government selected Gatwick Airport as London's second Airport. When the existing airport was closed for major refurbishment and reopened three years later, Gatwick was transformed into a modern facility with a 2,000 ft.runway. and traffic exceeding 46 million. In 2016 it became the forst commercial airport to handle more than 900 aircraft movement using a single runway and retained this title to this day.
Oxford airport was established as a public airport by Oxford City Council in 1935. However he served as Burlington Air Force base during World War 2. After a war it was converted into a place for aviation training, charter services and maintainable facilities, 5,800 meters long asphalt runway and associated infrastructure, into a full taxiway.
