Stockley Park is named after the old village of Stockley and is believed to be a portmanteau of the village of Cowley Stock in West Middlesex, named after a brick-making village. The village of Stockley was formed in 1912 when the village of Starveall was renamed Starvhall. Starveall is located in the old neighborhood of Hillingdon, south of the Grand Junction Canal. By the mid-19th century, a significant Brickfield was built west of Starveall Farm, and a tributary called Starveall Wharf was cut from the Grand Junction Canal to serve the Brickfield. In 1879, the minority Samuel Pocock was producing 15-20 million bricks a year here. In 1884 Pocock expressed interest in Clement Burgess Broad and George Harris. By 1911 the village of Starveall had grown but its descriptive name had caught the attention of its inhabitants.
